Carozito, the Rust Space Monkey

A look at my latest demo presented at Flash Party 2025 held at Club 404 in Buenos Aires.

Note: I’m currently working on having the demo ported to WebGL for the kicks of it, so we can have it play right in the browser.

The TL;DR

  • Presented a visual demo at FlashParty 2025, Club 404.
  • Built entirely with Bevy (Rust)
  • Custom cinematic tool.
  • Nova explosion finished in two hours before the deadline.

Last week I showed a small side project at the FlashParty 2025 in Buenos Aires, hosted at the legendary Club 404. The project, titled Carozito the Space Monkey (Argentina’s first and only cosmonaut), is a demo built entirely in Rust using the Bevy engine.

The idea is simple: a space monkey falling into a black hole, narrated by the voice of Avogadro. The real goal was to see how far I could push the engine.

Now that's what I call real time Bevy.

Building a simple cinematic tool for animation and camera cues was the first hurdle. The second was the “Nova Explosion,” stitched together with Bevy’s particle system a few hours before deadline. Rust stayed fast, Bevy stayed predictable, and the whole thing ran smooth with thousands of particles on screen. Solid showing for a tiny side project.
